Betty & Shebara Spence

Betty & Shebara Spence
Mrs. Betty P. Spence instituted The Betty P. Spence and Shebara C. Spence Scholarship in memory of her daughter Shebara Spence who received her associate's degree from Prince George's Community College in the mid-1970s. In recognition of the great value of education and the enriching effect it had on her daughter's life, Betty wished to make similar opportunities available to other students, and designated the college as the sole beneficiary of her estate valued at over $250,000. Prince George’s County held strong ties for Betty and Shebara. Betty was a retired employee of Prince George's County; and Shebara Spence worked as a government contractor for Lockheed Martin and the Goddard Space Flight Center prior to her death in 2006. Shebara was described by friends as an excellent student and avid reader. This planned gift has worked out to be an extraordinary way to support Prince George’s Community College Students and honor Shebara.
